Today I had the opportunity to read Brad Frost's blog on Frontend Design and felt that this kind of career is very similar to the work that I and many people I know do. So I'd like to recommend it. In case you meet someone who also does Frontend Design. And in case some people change their careers to try it as well. What is Frontend Designer? Frontend Designer is a profession that stands between Beautiful design (Design) and development (Engineering). The main duties are writing HTML, CSS, JavaScript for making User Interface. Each company has a different name for Frontend Designer.
What I've seen in Thailand are CSS Designer, UI Developer / Engineer, Design Engineer, or in some Phone Number List places it's called Design or Front-end Developer. It's just that there are more jobs than the job title. (The work has increased but the salary has not increased. T_T) According to Brad Frost, Frontend Designer's features are: Understand UX and know what good UX is, but don't spend a lot of time researching, creating application flows, or planning. Understand design and like beauty. But I don't spend a lot of time choosing pretty fonts, creating color palettes, or drawing icons. Can write JavaScript, but doesn't spend a lot of time writing application code, middleware, or debugging.
Understand the importance of the backend system, but don't spend a lot of time writing the backend system, setting up servers, fixing bugs. If your work is similar to this, it means you qualify as a Frontend Designer. Some people may focus a little more on the development side until they become a full-stack developer, or some people may focus a little more on the design side until they become a full-stack designer (is there one?). Problems with the Frontend Designer profession In most companies, designers and developers (or sometimes called programmers) are clearly separated. Have them sit on opposite sides of the office. Or some large companies may have separate floors and separate buildings, making Frontend Designer a career that is quite confusing as to who should go with it.
